Christmas Living Room with Colorful Ornaments and Eucalyptus

I ma back joining the Seasons of Home bloggers for another tour. As we lead up to the Holiday Housewalk 2019 (you can see the 2018 housewalk here), I am excited to show you some fun decorating ideas and handmade Christmas decor as we lead up to the big week, and I can’t wait to share all of the homes with you! There will be over 30 homes and lots of new faces, so make sure to drop by that Monday after Thanksgiving!   In my Christmas living room decorating this year I decided to take a few risks and dress up my tree  with colorful ornaments, and since we recently built our new faux box beam mantel, I had some fun really making it dramatic! I took most of my pictures at night so you can see the candlelight, so they may not be as bright as they normally are.

I realized I only got one full shot of our living room area, and the star on the tree was completely wonky. Well, sometimes you just have to embrace imperfection and move on, right?

mercury glass Christmas trees and ornaments

I bought these mercury glass trees a few years ago, and I still love using them at the holidays. There is something about mercury glass that has just the right amount of sparkle.

Candles on a rustic mantel decor

The recent mantel makeover meant I was able to try some new ideas. I had picked up some brass candlesticks from the thrift store a while ago, and wanted to use those in come way. Originally, I was going to to a colorful mantel with my painted rainbow houses, but once we changed the mantel, I knew I wanted to drape it with fresh eucalyptus.

Realistically, you can get about 3-5 days out of fresh eucalyptus. I have mine with the stalks in plastic wrap with damp paper towels around them. Once it completely dries out, I might change it our for pine for a little while.

The vignette looked pretty without the candles lit, but I loved the glow they gave off when they were.

It was so warm and pretty. Nothing can replace real candlelight for that kind of glow.

The mercury glass reflected it too, which made it even prettier. I opted to fill a rustic bowl with extra ornaments for something really  eye catching.

The stockings are another one of my favorite parts of my mantel. I picked them up at Cost Plus World Market.

Fun Christmas Stockings

The colorful stocking came that way with all of the fun pom poms, but I added the homemade tassels to the fur stocking. I love how the burnt orange tied back to the tree colors.

Colorful Christmas tree with 2019 trending colors orange and blue

This year, I took my colorful tree inspiration from my rug! I bought it a few years ago at Target and still love it (they don’t have my rug anymore, but I also love this one!)! I thought it would be fun to translate the colors to Christmas decor.

Trending Christmas colors orange and blue

I went very non-traditional with some of my colors in my Christmas Living Room, which made it hard to find the ornament colors I had in my head. Luckily they make clear, craftable, and very paintable ornaments! I’ll share later this week how I made them!

I added a fun fur throw from HomeGoods, and a cute mug for my hot cocoa.

I hope you liked this little tour of my holiday decor. I want to share one final element with you before you pop on over to visit the other Seasons of Home Bloggers.

Cool vase made from a reclaimed tree limb

At the last market I did, I picked up this really cool vase. It’s a reclaimed piece of wood that’s been hollowed out. The numbers were already on it, and it’s my new favorite thing. I just slipped a little recycled jar inside to hold water. You might see it in quite a few pictures coming up!
